Every Tuesday night I go to a local business meeting for my main business and I am reminded of how to talk to my potential business partners. Talk to everyone just like you are talking to a friend. So many times we feel the need to spill all the beans about the business we are in because we are just so excited to share. You need to be patient and wait for the right time. First, you need to find out if your friend even has a need that your business can help them with. Learn how your business will benefit them. First ask about their family, how are they? Then find out about their job. Say something like for example, “Wow, you must really love your job at (wherever they work).” Ask them to tell you about it. If they say something like. “My job has been so difficult and I'm struggling.” Then you found out that they are really looking for a solution. YOU have a solution for them with your business but at that point don't spill the beans about your business quite yet. Next you tell them. ” I actually may have an idea for you. I know ( name your sponsor or mentor in your business). He/she is a website developer(for example) and is very successful at what she does. I feel that by talking with him/her you will get a new idea on how to change your current job situation. He/she is a very busy person but I'm sure we can schedule a time for me introduce you to her. Will 7pm or 9pm this Tuesday work?” When you introduce your prospect to your mentor or sponsor, let them do the talking on your 3 way call. Listen to their every word. Learn all you can about their family, their job, their hobbies, and dreams. It’s important to know that your future potential business partner trusts you. Don't make the conversation about yourself, but all about them. Be interested, not interesting. Show them you really care about them, their family, their goals and dreams. This I feel is the key to success with your business!
